ARC Review: Dangerous Dream by Kami Garcia + Margaret Stohl

Dangerous Dream by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Dangerous Creatures #0.5
Author:
Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl
Publication Date: December 17, 2013
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers

The #1 New York Times bestselling Beautiful Creatures series continues in this brand-new digital-exclusive story.

Catch up with Ethan, Lena, and Link as they finally graduate from high school and get ready to leave the small Southern town of Gatlin. But when Dark Caster Ridley makes an appearance, the sometime bad girl can't resist picking a fight with her sometime boyfriend, Link. Angry and rebellious as ever, Ridley ends up alone in New York City and becomes entangled in the dangerous underground Caster club scene, where the stakes are high and losers pay the ultimate price.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but the first 2 books were my first DNFs (shocker) and the authors are the only ones who received a second and third chance (another shocker). Things don't start grabbing my attention until the last 2 novels.

But I'm confused. Are the Beautiful Creatures novels "Beautiful Creatures" or are they simply "Caster Chronicles"? Would the spin off be considered "Caster Chronicles" as well or simply "Dangerous Creatures"? Someone please clarify this because I've heard and seen both interchangeably. o_o
Confusion aside, Dangerous Dream is the gap between the Beautiful Creatures Novels and Dangerous Creatures. I guess that means it could be Caster Chronicles #4.5 or Dangerous Creatures #0.5, since it's set shortly after the events in Beautiful Redemption, reminding me yet again of how stuffy graduation will be (even if it's in a building). -_-

Considering the fact that this is a short story, I really don't have much to say – at least not without giving anything away. I will say that it's a nice transition to a spin-off and I honestly can't wait to read Link's and Ridley's story. I'm only hoping that the other characters – Ethan, Lena, John and Liv – make an appearance since they're fun characters together.

Notice I never said "in pairs". But this story did feel like a prologue and I'm going to have to agree with a lot of people that it's not worth wasting $2.99. .-.
