The Sunday Post ~ 57: Summer, Books, & Homework

The Sunday Post
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer - It's a chance to share news - A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

While some of ya'll were chillaxing at BEA, I was getting kicked in the butt by Finals. Then again, if I DID go to BEA, I would probably be that really awkward girl trying to hide under the table. Really, I'm THAT shy. Or maybe it's a fear of crowds. You tell me. And technically I gave myself away, so if you do see me one day... well, feel free to be that amazing person that breaks down my walls like a ninja. :p

Happy June! The Summer Reading Challenge has officially started, and I do highly advise you bookmark the next blog post unless you want to lose vital entries (really. They could save your life). ;) Oh... and I didn't intentionally start the challenge because that's when I go on vacation... mother nature did that.

But I have summer homework! Perks of being in Honors American Literature. I don't really mind reading of course, but the problem is... I probably won't remember what happens in the books. Perhaps I should stall. But it's a very bad idea to stall when you need to write 2 essays. A VERY bad idea. Because while I do procrastinate sometimes, moi does not like failing. Perhaps I need to read it twice. But Sophia does not like reading twice because she is busy. Reading other books. And granting 10+ review requests because she does NOT like being late on submitting feedback to publishers of ARCs (actually, technically there's only 4, but the amount of requests in total is over 10). Really, I don't. I hate it. It's my pet peeve. It's like not turning in an assignment in my opinion.

Although watch me accidentally do a genius job on that quiz (I usually do well with reading quizzes). I sometimes have a good memory. SOMETIMES.

Anyhoo, please allow me to welcome the tributes of the 2014 Unofficially Official Book Games. No murder is involved, although technically if I don't like the book or not finish it, the book is "murdered".

Cheer them on people. Cheer them on. Although most will survive. No promises though. Although the last 2 already survived because I HAVE to finish them whether or not I hate it.

Those Who Are/Were Curious About My Finals... I actually did a really decent job. I did lose a free 20 points on Biology though... oh wells. I'll pretend that I used the bathroom 2 times. Then again, that wouldn't have helped much.

  • Coexist by Julia Crane (in Keegan Chronicles set)
  • Stained by Ella James
  • All of them are updated... because I have most of the books... and that's precisely why I accepted them for review. Plus, I'm going to be really bored this summer. :p
Summer Homework (Floop)
  • The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - I know you good sir. I heard you were good. Can you meet up to this owl's expectations? CAN YOU?!?! (I don't get along with classics most of the time. Lupe has heard me complain a lot. Actually, she complains a lot herself about Classics. We'll be Complainer #1 and #2, rivals of Thing 1 and Thing 2.)
  • Zeitoun by Dave Eggers - So we meet. Hi... Mr. Egghead? I hope you like eggs. Perhaps you'll do a decent job of writing (that IS your job anyways). Maybe I'LL do a decent job if I eat scrambled eggs every day during the summer.
