Not to mention that fact he’s a great kisser. When he asks her to help him with his college admission essays, she isn’t sure if he’s doing it to spend more time with her or if he’s just using her for her brains. But after her nemesis, Summer Hoyt, makes it clear she’s not finished chasing after Brett, Alexis begins realize how hard she’s fallen for Brett. Now the war is on, and the head cheerleader will find out why she should never take on a Queen B*

My love of the first book in this series, Confessions of a Queen B* knows no bounds! It was such a refreshing book that stood out so much in it YA contemporary genre that can be extremely bland at times and even though it's been a few months, I can still remember my favourite parts clearly! So I had high hopes for The Queen B* Strikes Back and when I finally managed to get my hands on a copy I was expecting a lot from this book, which was probably my downfall.

All the characters feel like they've gone through a personality change. A MAJOR personality change. Alexis has lost the edge of her kickass take-no-crap-from-anyone attitude and is jealous over Brett for about 98.8% of the book. Brett, who was super adorable in the first book...isn't so adorable in this one. What makes it really frustrating, is that what with Alexis and Brett's personality switches the chemistry they have together feels off and is more then slightly awkward at times. Not saying that there weren't still cute moments between them though! ;)

I have to confess: there was a LOT of angst in here. Alexis and Brett's relationship was just one massive ball of angst from beginning to almost the end and it got SO tiring after a while. Thankfully, they (mostly) sorted themselves out in the end but it was frustrating having to put up with so much angst to get to that point.

I thought it lacked the freshness and the zing slightly that was so abundant in book #1 and that was sad. It was still funny, but lacked the hilarious note, but Alexis' voice was still sharp and snarky a thing I adored about both books so that was excellent!

All in all, my favourite book so far in the trilogy is definitely the first book still. I still really enjoyed this one though and I had a massive smile on face the whole time while reading this! The ending was satisfying, if a little rushed and I'm excited to see what direction the third book goes in!

 Author Bio

Growing up in small town Alabama, Crista relied on story-telling as a natural way for her to pass the time and keep her two younger sisters entertained.

She currently lives in the Audi-filled suburbs of Seattle with her husband and two children, maintaining her alter ego of mild-mannered physician by day while she continues to pursue writing on nights and weekends.

Just for laughs, here are some of the jobs she's had in the past to pay the bills: barista, bartender, sommelier, stagehand, actress, morgue attendant, and autopsy assistant.

And she's also a recovering LARPer. (She blames it on her crazy college days)
