Fangirl Friday: Veronica Roth's New Series, the Legend of Tarzan Trailer + Star Wars Guest Post

Happy Holidays!

Or are some of you guys still struggling with finals week like the rest of us here?

School is rough during this time of year but we are on day closer to winter break!

Let's power through!
You remember the famous author who wrote the Divergent Series right?

Well, Ms. Veronica Roth here has a new book series coming out very soon!

It has no title yet but hopefully will find out soon!

I am so excited about it! Here's what it says on the Goodreads page!

It sounds SO GOOD!

I mean it's related to Star Wars and who isn't happy about that? Doesn't matter if Star Wars is your cup of tea or not but I really am curious as to how Roth will be able to pull this off and tell a story different than the story of Divergent to what we are used to!

Sadly this beauty does not come out until 2017.

We will have to wait for the title, book cover and a complete synopsis! I mean we have to wait quite a while for it to come out and I already feel like I should pre-order this thing already. But I can't!

Well onto the next fantastic topic.

The Legend of Tarzan movie trailer just launched on Wednesday, December 9 and I made sure to watch it immediately!  Let me say, I was not disappointed and I really like how realistic the animals looked in the teaser trailer! It all looks so surreal I just can't even!
I can't say anything else much because I just want to see how different it is from the Disney animated film and how similar it is. To me, this movie is going to be BOMB and EPIC!

Watch the trailer and judge for yourself! Trust me you will not be disappointed!

Coming soon to a theater near you on July 1, 2016

The Keepers of the Galaxy: Ten Most Important Star Wars Characters

by Kate Voss

It has now been nearly forty years since we were first introduced to the Star Wars world. As the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens approaches, speculation abounds about the new characters. Who are they? What are they going to do? Are any of these people Han and Leia's kid? With the influx of new fans, we thought that a crash course in the important characters might be of interest.

Luke Skywalker
The main character of the Original Trilogy, we first saw Luke as a naive farmboy and watched him grow to be a Jedi like his father before him. Thus far, all we've seen of him in The Force Awakens teasers is a cloak and his robot arm. Is he still good? Is he evil? Has he been exiled? Everyone's keeping mum.

Princess Leia
Princess, Rebel leader, Hutt-slayer - is there anything this woman can't do? Since the moment she was captured while smuggling the Death Star plans away from the Empire, she stole the show. Now she's older, wiser, and a respected General for the Resistance.

Han Solo
The coolest of the trio, Han was the guy that everyone wanted to be. As the films progressed, he went from mercenary to dedicated Rebel, and fell in love with Princess Leia - and who could forget his class “I know” response to Leia first professing her love? The words "Chewie, we're home," in one of the new trailers brought tears to many eyes and questions to many fans.

Darth Vader
Born Anakin Skywalker, he was the absentee father of Luke and Leia (yes, siblings - surprise!), as well as a respected Jedi. When he fell to the dark side of the Force, he took on the identity of Darth Vader. Luke was able to reach the spark of humanity left in him and redeem him at the end of his life, and he died as Anakin Skywalker. Vader fanboy Kylo Ren has his melted helmet in TFA's trailer, so it’s anyone guess how exactly we’ll see this character revisited now.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
The mentor of two generations of Skywalkers, Obi-Wan was a respected Jedi at the end of the Old Republic. He has the distinction of fighting three Lords of the Sith and surviving two of the battles - though he still arguably won the last one. A figure of moral and physical courage, Obi-Wan spent most of the original trilogy as a Force ghost.

This diminutive alien trained Jedi for 900 years, taking Luke Skywalker as his last student. Self-exiled to the swamp planet Dagobah, his last words to Luke informed him that there was another Skywalker, thus hinting at Leia's Force-sensitivity.

Han Solo's Wookiee copilot is way more than a walking carpet. He may not have received a medal after destroying the Death Star, but he's appeared in all three eras of Star Wars films: prequel, original, and current. His loyalty to Han and co. is sky high, but unfortunately many fans have brought up fears concerning Chewy’s fate in this next installment - let’s hope they’re wrong.

Built by Anakin Skywalker, C-3P0, or Threepio, is the Greek chorus of the films. He has been in all six previous Star Wars movies, always convinced that the worst was about to happen. Threepio is still around in TFA and sporting a brand new red arm.

R2-D2, or Artoo, is essentially the family dog in droid form. Loyal and brave, he has stayed at the side of the Skywalkers since the very beginning. Of course he will return in TFA at Threepio's side, because what is any addition to the Star Wars universe without this cute puppy-like robot?

Jabba the Hutt
The slug-like alien is best known for his hedonism. After watching him enslave Leia and keep Han as a wall hanging, it was easy to cheer when Leia strangled him with her own chains.

After Episode IV: A New Hope premiered in 1977, an uncountable number of spin-offs have kept the billion-dollar franchise thriving. From comic book miniseries like Chewbacca (Gerry Duggan) and Lando (Charles Soule), which can be read here, to TV shows like Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: Droid Tales, available through DirecTV and Disney XD, it’s clear that the Star Wars story has entered the pantheon of modern-day legend. When The Force Awakens arrives next week, we’ll finally get a glimpse of what’s become of our favorite characters, as well as the chance to meet some new faces in the galaxy. With plans to continue the Star Wars saga for years to come, the only thing we know for sure is we’re in for a wild ride.
