Welcome to another edition of Novel Newcomers - we're back to the interviews again, so allow me to introduce to you Alice from Arctic Books and Sara from Reading the Blues Away!
Outside of blogging and reading, what other interests do you have?
SARA: I am a very boring person, when I’m not reading/blogging or at work I like TV and trying to craft. The only show I actually get to watch new is The Fosters and Dancing With the Stars otherwise just reruns or Netflix. I’m a fan of Gilmore Girls, Big Bang Theory, Glee, Friends, Disney just to name a few. I have a long list on Netflix to watch too.
I’m not the best crafter but I try. I recently started messing with paracord, and have making keychains pretty much down. I really want to branch out though and try ornaments and cause ribbons.
YOU. Are definitely not boring.
ALICE: I play violin in my school orchestra! I've been playing since third grade, and surprisingly, I'm still participating! Also, despite what I may say on social media, I'm really into chemistry, biology and sometimes history.
I, uh... can't really say the same thing about myself when it comes to the violin, xD.
What is your most unusual accomplishment?
SARA: I honestly don’t know. Lame answer I know but I can’t think of anything I’ve done that is unusual.
ALICE: I can say that I've read the whole Shatter Me series more than four times. I guess that's an accomplishment.
*whistles* More than I'll ever reread (I haven't read Shatter Me).
What is your favorite food?
SARA: This is a tough one, so much great food to choose from. I think I’ll go with Mac and Cheese! I mean who doesn’t love cheesy noodles??? But I’m weird I don’t like the cheese sauce kind I like the cheapo cheese powder in a box. I’ll never turn any Mac and Cheese down though.
ALICE: Mac and cheese! I also like garlic bread and French fries.
Let's assume the zombie apocalypse has arrived. Name three bloggers you would hate to see being turned into zombies.
SARA: Even though I think she would probably like it I’d hate to see Stefani Sloma from Caught Read Handed, Sara Stuart from A Gingerly Review, [and] Marissa from Growing Up Booknerd.
ALICE: Nori @ ReadWriteLove28, Maha @ Younicorn Reads, and Nisha @ A Running Commentary
Name five countries, aside from your own, you would love to visit and at least one blogger from each of those countries you would love to meet (if any).
SARA: I don’t know any bloggers from other countries but I’d love to see:
In the short time you've been blogging, have you encountered any hilarious bloopers you've committed? (It's okay. It happens.)
SARA: I haven’t yet but I’m sure it will happen eventually.
ALICE: No matter how many times I reread and revise my posts, I occasionally catch typos in posts that have been up for the whole day. Also, there were two separate times when I was scheduling a post and Wordpress accidentally published it.
What goals do you have as a blogger?
SARA: I want to be more confident in my reviews, I want to be able to post more regularly, [and] I want my feature Bookish Bucketlists to take off.
Bookish Bucketlists?!?! Ooo, I have GOT to check this one out.
ALICE: I want to develop a greater range of love for literature. I also want to make more new blogger friends and be able to discover more genres and new authors!
What kinds of advice or bits of information would you have liked to know before you started blogging? Any advice to share with future new bloggers?
SARA: Reviews are my downfall so I’d have liked a little more insight into writing them. How hard it is to make graphics, and come up with ideas. I’d also have liked to know a bit more on the “rules” of blogging like what is okay to do or not okay to do as long as you link credit back.
ALICE: I think it's definitely a good idea to be active on social media and to blog often! It's really important to make sure that you're here for the long run and you persevere in blogging.
Be sure to stop by Nori's blog to meet a new blogger next week! :)
