Outside of blogging and reading, what other interests do you have?
Betty: I’m not that great and I haven’t practiced in a while, but I do love drawing! That and practicing calligraphy and listening to music at just about every possible moment.
Giselle: I love going to concerts! They're my happy place. And I've always done photography as a hobby, be it digital or instant film. I also do graphic design! Everything from blog headers and marketing packs to business cards and bookmarks, I'm your girl. Lucky for me, both are hobbies I've been able to monetize. A girl’s gotta eat in college, you know?
Maan: I like singing and playing the guitar but I’m not a pro when it comes to playing it. I like listening to indie music as well as alternative rock ones, them being Fall Out Boy and Paramore (totally ironic, i know) but the songs I like to sing along to are ballads since that is what my voice range can handle.
What is your most unusual accomplishment?
Betty: I’m nearly silent on my feet and I love sneaking up on people and scaring them. (Just ask my family, they hate me because of that.)
Giselle: Last summer on a cruise I won the Harry Potter Trivia contest with 47 correct answers of 50. That's probably my proudest, most unusual accomplishment! :P
Maan: My most unusual accomplishment would maybe make my baby cousin smile at me. I’m not good with babies, never have been, so when they laugh or smile at me I feel like high-fiving myself.
What is your favorite food?
Betty: Can’t choose! I love so many different kinds from Mexican, to Korean and Italian. I am not the sort to eat small amounts because I’m watching my figure. Thankfully, I am blessed with a so-so metabolism that keeps me at the same weight without fluctuating.
Giselle: ummm the edible kind? No but jokes aside, I love cooking and baking so I agree with Betty, there's too many different kinds to choose! Italian, Japanese, Mexican… I'm half Puerto Rican, and food is probably at the heart of our culture. I just love food!
Maan: I could eat potatoes and cream cheese everyday. I also agree with what Betty and Giselle about loving Mexican and Korean food. I practically eat everything except seafoods. (I’m allergic)
Let's spread some blogger love! Name three bloggers you don't know who are participating in Novel Newcomers and give them a compliment.
Betty: It was hard to decide, but I finally got it down to Giselle and Maan because it’s always great to meet new people even though I am so socially awkward. Great blogs by the way! Also Ava @ Bookishness and Tea. She does a lot of tags, something I am so lax in following through with, and there are enthralling and fun to read.
Giselle: I don't think I'm acquainted with much of anyone in this feature! So I'll choose Betty, who is also being interviewed. I'm loving your answers so far! I hope to get to know you, and other Novel Newcomers, this summer!
Maan: Can I name more than three? I know some of the participating bloggers but I’d definitely like to know Rachel @ Go Read A Book, Sam @ Literary Lover and Stephanie @ Reading Is Better With Cupcakes. I love all of your blog names and your blogs! <3 Also to Giselle and Betty, I’m more than happy to share this post with you :D
What are some of your top reads this year?
Betty: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas, Scarlet trilogy by G.A. Gaughen (absolutely loved it, 5 stars all the way), Rodent by Lisa J Lawrence, Raised by Wolves Trilogy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed, and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor.
Giselle: The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry was my first and only 5 star book of 2016 thus far! A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas, Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon, and Dreamology by Lucy Keating all got 4 star reviews from me. I went through a couple of months where all I read was contemporary, and I wound up loving them.
Maan: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera, A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare.
What are some books publishing this year that you can't wait to read?
Betty: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (dying for this book), Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas, This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab, The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May,
Giselle: I'm with Betty on Crooked Kingdom. I already have an ARC of it, but I'm just so dang excited for the finished copy and for the rest of the world to read Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Manisculco! S. Usher Evans is releasing a new series this October called LexieSpells and it looks like a ton of fun. I'm also super eager to read The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.
Maan: My top 2 most anticipated reads would definitely have to be Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I am just dying to get my hands on those and get a read on.
In the unfortunate tragedy you have to kill your favorite fictional boyfriend/girlfriend, who would it be? (Sophia is guilty of this question, but she loves this question oh so very much.)
Betty: Rowan Whitethorn from Sarah J Maas’ Throne of Glass Series. Although I might kill myself afterward...or just waste away from grief.
Giselle: Anybody who breathes oxygen will tell you the love of my literary life is Noah Shaw, from the Mara Dyer trilogy. Seeing as I'm basically Mara and I'd like to hope The Shaw Diaries holds an uplifting fate for my dearly beloved, I'll have to choose my second most-favorite book boyfriend. Aleksander Morozova; The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy. Sorry, bub.
Maan: I already feel guilty thinking of anyone to answer this question. My top three favorite fictional boyfriends are Daemon Black, William Herondale and Kaz Brekker and I don't have the heart to kill them off. So I’ll choose the next one, Chaol Westfall. Sorry Chaol, you know I still love you, though.
