Can you believe it's almost the end of July? (I mean, I sort of can.) In the reading department, it's been an extremely interesting year – I've had far more memorable reads than last year, and the joke of the year so far is I only DNFed one book.
Well, then. I must be becoming better with my book choices.
With August around the corner, I've decided to share some of my favorite reads so far this year – even if this post is extremely late.
Isabel BandeiraI'll agree with the negative reviewers on Goodreads that there isn't really much of a plot (because there isn't). But... the main character is quite literally me – an awkward little bookworm who prefers to stick her nose in a book than have a social life. Plus, said MC is absolutely adorable... and the love interest too. And despite the fact there isn't really a plot, I still enjoyed this book a lot.
Love Me Never by Sara WolfI don't read contemporary. Not usually. But I hold Love Me Never in a special kind of regard because I spent far too much time trying not to giggle while everyone else in the house was sleeping in the middle of the night. It's also really dark (in context and in humor).... which I somehow like and that is probably why I say I'm an evil little devil spawn.
Titans by Victoria ScottOkay, mechanical horses and friendship is really all you need to know.
Withering Rose by Kaitlyn Davis
I think he might have replaced them... because he is extremely quotable and I love quotable characters. (Oh, dear. Is this when I properly say I can hide? Welp.)
Also, I'm extremely excited this book is part of the Missouri Gateway Readers Award for the 2016-2017 school year. Too bad I graduated and can't vote, because there are some really good ones this year.
What are some of your favorite reads so far this year? Any thoughts on the books I enjoyed?
