Novel Newcomers: Interviews with Jordan @ The Heart of a Book Blogger, Nicole @ The Anatomy of a Bookworm, and Fatima @ Fafa's Book Corner

Novel Newcomers 2017 is open for sign ups!
Hello and happy almost Christmas week! I'm currently on Winter Break (so is Lupe!) and I'm overly happy that I actually get to read for once in the year (also because I've been in such a slump for a good part of the year due to life events so... it's actually nice to get back on track, or try to).
This week might be final group of 2015 book bloggers that will be featured (at least, until the wrap-up post, but knowing myself, I'm bound to have lost an email from someone along the way). Please welcome Fatima from Fafa's Book Corner, Jordan from The Heart of a Book Blogger, and Nicole from The Anatomy of a Bookworm!

We're in for another winter themed questions! (I mean, kind of. We don't talk about food as much as the Thanksgiving edition group did...)

Outside of blogging and reading, what other interests do you have?
Fatima: I actually work with children. So I plan their activities like art. It's really fun to set up their arts and crafts.
Jordan: I played basketball for ten years (3rd to 12th grade). Photography became my new hobby as I entered college, and I’m currently the photo editor for my school’s newspaper.
Nicole: I also love horse-riding, baking, watching entire seasons of tv shows in days and obsessively playing Candy Crush (it’s so addicting!).

What is your most unusual accomplishment?
Fatima: Hmm...I can't think of anything.
Jordan: Hmmm, I earned a first-degree black belt in Taekwondo! Remind me to never make you upset or angry at me.
Nicole: Hmm, I don't think I actually have any unusual accomplishments, or at least any that I can think of at the moment.

What is your favorite food?
Fatima: Definitely French fries.
Jordan: Chicken Parmesan! I also love pumpkin bread and many different types of fruit. Awesome! I'm a fruit person as well. ^_^
Nicole: This is a hard one. I have a very long list of favourite foods, and unfortunately it's all the unhealthy things, but pizza and chocolate are always a win. One cannot simply deny chocolate.

Name some books with a winter theme that you would love to have a poster of.
Fatima: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. While I wouldn't say that winter is a theme, it is a large part of the first book.
Jordan: My True Love Gave to Me! I loved so many of the fun, holiday/winter stories in this anthology! Also, the US and UK covers are both so gorgeous!
Nicole: The UK hardback cover for ‘My True Love Gave to Me’ is gorgeous (and very Christmassy), I’d love to have a poster of that! And the covers for Maggie Stiefvater’s ‘Shiver’ have great winter vibes, too.

What books did you read this year that you would secretly hide in someone's stocking if you could?
Fatima: The Waterfire saga.
Jordan: “Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?” by Beverly Daniel Tatum. I read this for my Interpersonal Communication course this semester, and I think it’s an important book more people should be reading.
Jordan: Three of the best books I’ve read this year are The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Nevernight by Jay Kristoff and The Island by Olivia Levez. I’d totally try and put these in someone’s stocking (whilst also constantly recommending because they were amazing)!

In just a few weeks, 2017 will be upon us. What debuts are you extremely excited for?
  • You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando
  • The Elementalist by V. V. Mont
  • Gray Wolf Island by Traci Neithercott
  • Romeo and What’s Her Name by Shani Petroff
Jordan: There are so many debuts I can’t wait for! It’s hard to choose which ones I’m most excited for, so I will list several of my most anticipated reads!
  • You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando
  • Frostblood by Elly Blake
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber
  • Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
  • Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves
  • The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty
  • The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich
  • When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Nicole: Ahh, there are so many that I’m looking forward to! Caraval is pretty high up the list – it sounds amazing, and I keep hearing great things about it. I’ve also heard very good things about Frostblood and Wintersong, so I’m very excited to read them, too! Ooh, and Wicked Like a Wildfire!

Let's talk about movies and TV shows. Any movies or shows that you can't wait to see next year?
Fatima: Voltron, Yu Gi Oh: Dark Side of the Dimensions, The Mummy, Re: Zero season 2, and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Ooo, I can't wait for A Series of Unfortunate Events either! It's been awhile since I've read the books or watched the first (or few) movies.
Jordan: I can’t wait for Beauty and the Beast! I adore Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, and I’m so excited to see them working together! Also, I can’t wait for season 4 of The 100 to come out! #Bellarke Eeep! We're excited for Beauty and the Beast too! ^_^
Nicole: I’m really looking forward to watching A Monster Calls (and am hoping to read the book soon!) and Beauty and the Beast. I also can’t wait to watch season 4 of Reign and the last ten episodes of Pretty Little Liars. I have been reminded to go watch Reign one day. Sigh.

What goals do you have for 2017?
Fatima: To become a bit more organized. In every sense of my life.
Jordan: One goal I want to work on is finding a better balance in life. I really need to work on managing homework better so that I have the time to read more of the books I want to be reading. I think Lupe and I can agree on this one.
Nicole: I’d love to be able to spend a lot more time on my blog and spend more time online chatting about the books I love and making friends. I’d also love to finally beat my GoodReads Reading Challenge – I am determined to do it next year without cheating, haha! YOU CAN DO IT, NICOLE!!! We have faith in you! ^_^ *whispers* I volunteer as friend tribute!
